Time To Show You Know They Still Play College Baseball in Orono

SOMEONE FAMOUS ONCE SAID “LETS PLAY 2!”

ACTUALLY I SAY “LETS PLAY 10 OR 11!”

THATS HOW MANY AMERICA EAST CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP BASEBALL GAMES WILL BE PLAYED IN ORONO THIS WEEK.

THE MAINE BLACK BEARS ARE HOSTING THE EVENT AT BEAUTIFUL MAHANEY DIAMOND.

MAYBE YOU KNEW MAINE WAS HOSTING?

MAYBE NOT.

BLACK BEAR BASEBALL IS A BIT FORGOTTEN THESE DAYS.

THEY PLAYED 50 GAMES THIS SEASON AMASSING AN 18-32 RECORD.

BUT MAINE PLAYED ONLY 12 GAMES IN ORONO.

AND ATTENDANCE HAS BEEN DISMAL.

MAINE BASEBALL IS ONLY AVERAGING ONLY ABOUT 100 FANS PER GAME.

THAT’S PATHETIC CONSIDERING THE TICKETS TO REGULAR SEASON MAINE GAMES ARE FREE!

LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL GAMES DRAW MORE FANS.

BUT THIS WEEK WE HAVE A CHANCE TO CHANGE THAT.

NICK DERBA’S BLACK BEARS HAVE BEEN PLAYING PRETTY WELL AS OF LATE AND THEY ARE THE #5 SEED FOR THE CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT.

THEY PLAY #4 ALBANY AT 11AM WEDNESDAY.

DIVISION 1 BASEBALL IS QUALITY BASEBALL. IT’S FUN AND EDUCATIONAL TO WATCH FOR YOUNG PLAYERS NO MATTER WHICH TEAMS ARE ON THE FIELD.

PARENTS BRING YOUR YOUNG SOFTBALL AND BASEBALL PLAYERS

COACHES, BRING YOUR TEAMS TO HISTORIC MAHANEY DIAMOND.

THE TOURNAMENT GETS UNDER WAY 11AM WEDNESDAY WHEN MAINE TAKES THE FIELD.

IT WRAPS UP SATURDAY AFTERNOON

COME ON OUT TO MAHANEY DIAMOND. SUPPORT THE HOME TEAM.

I’LL SEE YOU THERE.
