Mookie and Martinez To Skip Home Run Derby This Year-Phew!

This is some of the best news I have heard today!
Both Mookie Betts and JD Martinez say they will NOT take part in the 2018 Home Run Derby at the All Star Game in Washington DC.
Can I get an Amen?
The HR derby is the dumbest, biggest waste of time perpetrated on the American sports fan this side of the MLS.
Hitting long fly balls off 70 MPH pitches thrown by old high school baseball coaches is not legit competition. Plus those who win the derby have a history of sliding into post all star slumps. Look no further than Aaron Judge last year. Judge was hitting .329 with 30 homers and 66 RBIs at the 2017 All-Star break, then batted .179 with seven homers and 16 RBIs with 67 strikeouts in his next 44 games through the end of August.
Thank you Mookie and JD for putting the Sox first and not taking part in the silliest event in sports, the Home Run Derby.
