Even the haters should appreciate 42 year old Tom Brady

In sports, and probably life, we often don’t appreciate what we’re seeing the moment it happens. I know I often think back and say “man I wish I could go back in time and watch this person or that team again.” I have worked hard to appreciate the amazing run of the New England Patriots the last 20 years or so.

That includes watching in wonder as Tom Brady has cemented his place as the greatest quarterback of all time.

I know this could fall on deaf ears, but even if you’re not a Pats fan, I encourage you to watch TB 12 perform this season. Because everything you see him do has never been done before.

Tom Brady is 42 years old.

Did you know there are currently 8 head coaches in the league younger than Brady?

There have been 15 quarterbacks in NFL history to start a game after turning 40. Most played in just a couple of games. Brady has already started 38 games over the age of 40. More than anyone! He has thrown for more yards, more scores, and has played in the Superbowl each year.

Yup- he’s the oldest passer to ever hoist the Lombardi trophy and he became the first QB to win MVP at 40

And he’s doing it with the same team. Never happens.

There are 1696 players in the NFL. 53 per team. This year there are only two guys older than Tom Brady. Both are kickers.

As a low round pick who barely made the team as a rookie and completed only one pass that year for 3 yards, to becoming he greatest and maybe the oldest to ever play, TB 12 is one of the best American sports stories of all time.

Enjoy it this year. You don’t want to think back and lament what you missed.
