About Jeff Solari

Jeff Solari is the president and founder of the Sports Chowdah, Maine’s only free, weekly sports e mail newsletter. Recently, the Mount Desert Island native was the co-host of “The Drive” on 92.9 FM in Bangor.
He has been in sports media since he was 17. He is not shy with his opinions or unique perspective on the world of sports. 
Jeff is a graduate of Mount Desert Island High School and the University of Southern Maine.
Solari began broadcasting sports while in high school doing local high school games on local cable TV and WDEA radio in Ellsworth.


He continued broadcasting sports while at USM, covering Final Four basketball teams and a national champion baseball team. He also worked as an Associate Producer in the sports department of WCSH TV in Portland with Bill Green and Bruce Glasier.

After graduating from college, he became a Sports Anchor/ Reporter at WLBZ-TV working with Dale Duff and Lee Goldberg from 1992-1995.

In the late ’90’s, Solari did high school games for WMDI in Bar Harbor and provided play-by-play of Maine Women’s basketball during the Cindy Blodgett era for WZON and the statewide SportsZone- Black Bear Radio Network. 

 In 2003, he served as co-host of the Oklahoma Sooners football postgame show on WKY in Oklahoma City.


Back in Maine in 2004, he hosted the highly rated “The Shootaround,” an afternoon sports talk show on WZON radio until 2010. He also was the voice of Maine Women’s basketball from 2004-2007.

Jeff also was a weekly contributor and occasional fill-in host on the “Downtown with Rich Kimball” show on The Ticket on 92.9 FM for a couple of years before stepping up to the daily co-hosting gig on The Drive.

Solari has won more than15 MAB and AP broadcaster awards.
